Ovoria – Your European egg bank
Established in 2001, Ovoria has evolved into a prominent international egg bank, dedicated to supporting fertility journeys from first enquiry to a successful pregnancy. By combining skilled embryologists, modern facilities, and rigorous donor recruitment protocols, we ensure every recipient has access to quality donor eggs and, when necessary, sperm donation. Our partnerships with leading fertility centres around the UK allow us to seamlessly coordinate treatments, whether you are looking for a donor egg, exploring surrogacy, or seeking IVF with donor eggs to overcome challenges such as low ovarian reserve or inherited genetic conditions. Throughout Scotland—including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, and Aberdeen—Ovoria’s goal is to offer a smooth, clearly outlined process that respects each patient’s unique situation.
What makes us different
At Ovoria, we set ourself apart from other egg banks. Our key strengths include:
-
Global Fertility Expertise: Our specialists keep pace with international reproductive research, tailoring every treatment plan to each patient’s personal medical history.
-
Extensive Donor Pool: An inclusive online database of egg donors, complete with non-identifying information, ensures you can select a perfect donor whose attributes align with your preferences.
-
Reliable Oocyte Sets: We provide clear details about the number of available donor eggs, ensuring you understand precisely what to expect during IVF treatment.
-
Strict Family Limit Measures: We carefully track live births from each donor to respect the HFEA’s family limit regulations and minimise the risk of donor-conceived children unknowingly inheriting related genetic backgrounds.
-
Innovative Egg Freezing Technologies: By using state-of-the-art vitrification, we improve the viability of frozen donor eggs, increasing the likelihood of a successful embryo transfer and eventual pregnancy.
Our role in treating infertility
For many, egg or sperm donation is something that requires careful consideration, and Ovoria is here to help guide you through the entire process. Our team works hand-in-hand with local fertility clinics, whether NHS-funded or private, ensuring each recipient and embryo transfer cycle is managed cohesively. We support the NHS where possible by providing high-quality donor eggs to fertility clinics, aiding people in Scotland who need donor conception to start or grow their families. Whether you require donor egg IVF or a combined egg and sperm donation approach, we handle the logistics so you can focus on your emotional well-being and successful treatment outcomes.
The egg donation process for egg recipients
At Ovoria, we make the egg donation process as simple and transparent as possible, ensuring a smooth journey for those using donor eggs in Edinburgh. Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Register Online & Select Your Donor
Start by creating a Private Client account to access our secure egg donor database. Here, you can review detailed donor profiles, including medical history, childhood and adult photos (where available), and the number of donor eggs available. Every egg donor undergoes thorough genetic testing, with the option for extended screening. Once you’ve selected a donor, you can choose a set of 6, 8, or 12 eggs to align with your IVF treatment plan.
Step 2: Contact the Ovoria Coordinator
After choosing your egg donor, our dedicated coordinator will confirm availability and discuss the next steps. This includes addressing medical and legal aspects, pricing, and coordination with your chosen fertility clinic in Scotland. Our team ensures that all your questions about donor egg IVF, treatment timelines, and eligibility criteria are answered.
Step 3: Sign the Agreement
Once all details—such as donor type, oocyte quantity, and additional testing—are finalised, you will sign a legal agreement outlining the terms of your donor egg cycle. This agreement guarantees transparency in the process and provides clarity on your IVF journey using donor eggs.
Step 4: Coordinate With Your Fertility Clinic & Arrange Shipping
If you are already receiving fertility treatment in the UK, your clinic must confirm its readiness to receive donor eggs from Ovoria. Our logistics team arranges the safe, hand-carried transportation of your frozen donor eggs, ensuring they arrive at your clinic securely and remain viable for fertilisation.
Step 5: Embryo Transfer & Pregnancy Testing
For fresh donor eggs, the donor will undergo ovarian stimulation, while you prepare your uterine lining with hormone therapy. If using frozen eggs, your fertility clinic will thaw the oocytes before fertilisation using IVF or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Embryos are cultured for up to five days before transfer. Approximately two weeks later, a pregnancy test measuring hCG levels will confirm whether the treatment has been successful.
